Job Description Summary The Department of Humanities at Michigan Technological University seeks to appoint a Visiting Assistant Professor of French for a one-year appointment beginning August 15, 2016. Salary is dependent on terminal degree status. Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned) * Teach a combination of courses at the beginning, transitional, and intermediate levels; coordinate conversation and lab activities; and assist with program recruitment and publicity. * Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work. * Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities (minimum requirements) Native or near-native fluency in French. Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Familiarity with Second Language Acquisition theory and instructional technology is highly desirable. Work Environment and/or Physical Demands The work environment is that of a typical office and/or classroom setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
