I have copied some upcoming opportunities for language teachers and students below. They come from the Partnership for Global Learning newsletter and I received them through OFLA. Enjoy!
For Educators:
· 2011 Toyota International Teacher Program to Costa Rica is now accepting applications from teachers of grades 7 - 12. Fully-funded. Deadline May 4.|
· Teachers for Global Classrooms Program Travel to Brazil, Ghana, Indonesia, India, Morocco, or Ukraine. Qualify by taking part in online and in-person teacher professional development symposiums. For more information and eligibility, check the program's website. Applications are due June 15, 2011.
- Challenge 20/20 is an Internet-based program that pairs classes at any grade level (K-12) from schools in the U.S. with counterpart classes in other countries; together the teams (of two or three schools) tackle real global problems to find solutions that can be implemented at the local level and in their own communities. Applications accepted until August 15.
For Students:
- ThinkQuest is a global competition where student teams (many of which are comprised of members from different countries) explore a contemporary world topic and create a website. Deadline to enter: April 27.
- Concordia Summer Language Villages combine language immersion, cultural activities, and fun camp activities, and are offered for students aged 7-18 in the following languages: Arabic, Chinese, Danish, English, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Swedish. Programs are one, two and four weeks long, with the four-week program offering one year of high school language credit.
