The English as a Second Language (ESL) Department at Cardinal Stritch University is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of a tenured track, renewable, full-time assistant professor and chair of the ESL program beginning August 2016. The position involves chairing the ESL program as well as teaching some courses within the program, and other duties such as managing the annual budget, hiring adjunct faculty members, and scheduling classes.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Non-tenure Track General English Language Professor (GEL)
  • Teach a variety of credit and noncredit English as Foreign Language classes
  • Maximum teaching 20 hours per week, 4 office hours and 2 hours every two weeks for professional development. Classes are taught from Monday to Friday during the morning, afternoon and evening although most classes are in the morning and afternoon.
  • Bilingual (Korean and English) GEL Professors who can translate and interpret may have opportunities for administrative duties. Contract hours for administrative duties are 24 office hours per week minus teaching hours. Teaching hours are from 4 hours up to 16 hours a week.
STARTING SALARY
  • 2,700,000 to 3,500,000 Won per month
BENEFITS
  • Relocation allowance of 40,000 Won per day for up to seven days for those applicants currently living outside of Korea (payable with first pay check).
  • Initial Contract Bonus (1,000,000 Won upon contract completion) for all first year teachers.
  • One month's additional salary is paid as a bonus upon the completion of a second year's contract and every year contract thereafter.
  • Housing:
1) For Single teachers - a rent-free partially-furnished apartment close to the campus (single accommodation) is offered depending on availability or, in lieu of an apartment, a housing stipend* of 400,000 Won per month.
2) For married teachers and teachers with families - Woosong does not provide a partially-furnished apartment but a housing stipend* of 500,000 Won per month is offered. About the job
Nazarbayev University Foundation Year Program (NUFYP) is currently seeking qualified instructors in the areas of English (EAP), mathematics, chemistry, biology, physics, and humanities. NUFYP is an integrated, foundation year that prepares students for study in Nazarbayev University's three undergraduate schools: School of Engineering, School of Science and Technology, and School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Students develop academic study skills and learn how to adapt to the expectations of an academic research community. All classes are taught in English, with the minimum IELTS English entry level for students set at 6.0 for the coming academic year. The NUFYP student body is anticipated to expand to nearly 750 students in the fall of 2016.

As a NUFYP Teaching Fellow, you will teach 500-600 hours per year. You will be part of a team responsible for the planning, delivery, evaluation, and assessment of your subject area under the supervision of a subject Coordinator and following the NUFYP curriculum.
