Technology: Teachers Easy Guide to The Most Important Web Tools in Education

"When it comes to using web resources with our students, time plays a decisive role.It is next to impossible for a busy teacher restricted by curriculum constraints, day to day lesson preparations, assignment corrections, to mention but a few of his chores, to effectively search the web and find the adequate resources to share with his/ her students. Most people just do not have the time to learn all these technologies and some educators pick just one or two websites of interest and start exploring them."

Technology: Using Google forms for a "Choose your own adventure" style story

"The basic idea is, the students construct a story where the next page in the story depends on a decision made by the person reading the story. Generally in one of these books the reader flips to a different page depending on their decision and so create their own version of the story. With a sufficiently advanced plot, and a long enough book, there can be a very large number of ways a story can unfold."

German: Bingo made active - Reflexive Verb Bingo

Chris here again. Today I have a fun activity I have created for a lesson on using reflexive verbs in German. This is a Bingo activity to help students practice their recognition of reflexive verbs, however, I have built in an output component by taking the standard Bingo format and requiring students to ask classmates questions on health and hygiene using reflexive verbs. Students will then answer either affirmatively or negatively using the reflexive verb from the question. Thus, the activity also turns into a race as the students fill out their Bingo sheet as they ask and receive answers to their questions. This format in turn allows all students to participate rather than sitting and only listening to the teacher with each student getting several chances to both produce and hear reflexive verbs being used. This also reinforces the vocabulary being learned. Teachers should circulate around the room ensuring correct usage. I have included a template below for download. Feel free to create multiple alternate sheets. Let me know how this activity works for you!

Family Members with Pumpkins

Looking for an easy activity to bring Halloween to the class? Try this classic poem about five little pumpkins. If you have any students who aren't allowed to study holidays change witches to leaves and "Boo, It's Halloween YAY" to "It's time to play!
A family of pumpkins sitting on a gate.
The mommy said, "Oh, my it's late!"
The daddy said, "I don't care!"
The sister said, "There are witches in the air!"
The brother said, "Let's run away!"
And the baby said, "Boo! It's Halloween. Yay!"
Then Whoooooosh... went the wind,
And out went the light!
And the five little pumpkins rolled out of sight.
