German and Scandinavian Studies
Augustana College invites applications for a one-year Fellowship which may
be renewed for an additional year, beginning August 2013. It is expected
that the person in this position will teach Swedish language courses and
courses in translation in German and Scandinavian Studies. Candidates with
expertise in German language and German Studies are preferred. Candidates
should have a commitment to excellence in teaching and professional growth,
and will be expected to actively participate in departmental matters.
Ph.D. is preferred but ABD will be considered. Augustana College is on a
trimester calendar with three terms each year. The standard teaching load
is seven 3-credit courses per year. Augustana College is a selective liberal
arts college of 2,500 students, most of whom live on a wooded 115-acre
campus. Rock Island, Illinois is one of the Illinois-Iowa Quad Cities along
the Mississippi River, a diverse metropolitan area with 400,000 residents.
