The Defense Department awarded the University of Wisconsin-Madison a $490,000 grant to provide classes for languages of critical need. Students in training to become officers will take classes in Arabic, Hindi-Urdu, Turkish and Russian for free through the "Project Global Officers" grant. The military sees improving language skills as crucial to missions. See our recent post on a new military language facility in Germany here.
