DUTIES:
Incumbent of this position will provide professional teaching skills to
assist student to achieve optimum development of skills and mastery of
knowledge identified by the Department of Defense Education Activity
Community Strategic Plan and Curriculum by conducting assigned subject
matter or grade level(s) instruction in the DoDEA School System. The
teacher plans, organizes and presents information and instruction via a
Learning Management System which helps students learn subject matter and
skills that will contribute to their academic development; has an
instructional plan which is compatible with the DoDEA Virtual High School
and system-wide curricular goals; interacts effectively with students,
co-workers, and parents; carries out noninstructional duties as assigned
and/or as needed; adheres to established laws, policies, rules and
regulations; and follows a plan for professional development.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
In order to be considered for employment for positions in DoDEA, applicants
must meet the general criteria below.
Selectee MUST be certified to teach all specified categories below:
German AND any other High School teaching category (AP German is required)
EDUCATION:
A baccalaureate degree from an institution accredited by a regional
accrediting association is required. Academic preparation of at least 40
semester hours (SH) in general education course work distributed over such
fields as English, history, social studies, mathematics, fine arts,
languages, science, philosophy, and psychology is required. In addition, a
minimum of 18 SH of professional teacher education course work in such areas
as learning process, tests and measurement, educational
philosophy/psychology, social foundations, methods of teaching and
curriculum applicable to the type and level of the position for which
applying is required. Note: Professional teacher education and semester
hours in the content area(s) are considered in conjunction with a current
and valid State certificate. Official transcripts must reflect 50% of the
course work in professional teacher education and in the content area(s) of
the position(s) to be filled.
Advanced Placement (AP) certification in German.
Majored in Foreign Language OR a minimum of 30 semester hours in foreign
language course work in German.
A minimum of 12 semester hours of upper level foreign language course work.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. United States (U.S.) citizenship.
2. Physical ability to perform the duties efficiently and without hazard to
self or others.
3. Availability on a worldwide basis is required and applicants should be
available for immediate in-processing as soon as an employment offer is
made.
4. Specialized Experience Requirements: A minimum of two years of
successful classroom teaching experience is required.
5. Student Teaching or an Internship.
6. State or Territory Certification/License.
7. DoDEA Licensure.
8. Testing Requirements.
9. Extracurricular Activities.
