Tenure track position in German Studies and Environmental Humanities, with
expertise in German language, literature, and culture, at the rank of
assistant professor. Effective August, 2013.
Ph.D. required. Period of
specialization open, but it is crucial that candidates explain in their
letter of application how their areas of expertise can contribute to a
program in Environmental Humanities, a component of Whitman's Environmental
Studies program that examines the intersection of nature and culture.
The
successful candidate will teach five courses per year, including three
courses in German Studies (language courses at all levels, as well as
courses in literature and culture), and two courses at the intersection of
German Studies and Environmental Humanities.
In addition the candidate will
direct student theses in both programs. Native or near-native fluency in
both German and English, and teaching experience at the college level are
required.
