The Department of German, Scandinavian and Dutch at the University of Minnesota invites applications for a visiting position in German (Assistant Professor rank), for academic year 2016-17. This is a temporary full-time, nine-month appointment beginning August 29, 2016. We seek a candidate in German Studies with post-1750 specialization in literature and culture, native or near-native German-language skills, strong interest in teaching, and ability to work collaboratively. Expertise in 21st-century literature and media is desirable. The successful candidate must have an active research agenda, demonstrated experience as a teacher, and commitment to service and outreach. The teaching load is five courses at the undergraduate or graduate level, with related student advising. Priority given to applications received by April 15, 2016.
Essential Qualifications
· Ph.D. in German or related field by June 15, 2016
· Post-1750 specialization in German literature and culture
· Post-secondary teaching experience
· Native or near-native German and English language skills.
