DESCRIPTION:
Foreign Language Teacher Latin or German Preferred
2012-2013 School Year
Facilitate student acquisition of foreign language including the study of grammar, reading comprehension for pleasure and information, oral and written communication and an appreciation of the culture; provide high quality instruction and implement the curriculum for assigned students; establish, foster, facilitate and maintain a safe and secure classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Valid Professional Standards Commission approved certificate in appropriate educational field at level T-4 or above.
2. Valid Professional Standards Commission approved subject-specific endorsements, as required.
3. Highly qualified status in assigned instructional/subject field in accordance with Georgia Professional Standards Commission requirements.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Teach grade relevant, subject matter specific and mandated curriculum.
2. Provide foreign language instruction with an emphasis on speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.
3. Prepare lesson plans, instructional aids, and supplemental teaching materials.
4. Assess, document and prepare reports such as achievement progress, grade and classroom performance, and attendance.
5. Manage the learning environment and ensure the maintenance of an effective physical setting for instruction.
6. Participate in student development and achievement related conferences with parents, students, counselors, teachers, the principal, and/or administrators.
7. Perform general instruction coordination duties such as ordering materials, attending meetings, and engaging in various forms of correspondence.
8. Attend professional learning sessions and/or required conferences.
9. Adhere to the Georgia Professional Standards Commission’s Code of Ethics for Educators, all Board policies and regulations, and all local school procedures.
10. Perform other professional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the principal or designated school based administrators.
Salary is based on Fayette County Public School System’s Educator Salary Scale. Employee benefits include health insurance, life insurance, long-term disability, and dental insurance. Applicable retirement contributions are provided by the Fayette County Board of Education.
