Great article in Spiegel on Scientology in Germany. There is a movie posted to Youtube in segments, which originally aired on Germany's Channel 1 (Das Erste), Bis nichts mehr bleibt <Until Nothing Remains>. It's worth checking out. You can definitely see why Germany more than many other countries (including our own) would take a strong stand against such an organization. The parallels with the Nazis and the Stasi are easy to see. If nothing else, the abuses perpetrated by this "church" shown in this film demonstrate the appropriateness of the laws Germany has enacted since the end of WWII and again after reunification to protect its citizens against such parasitic cults. There is also a documentary that accompanies the film.
