The German Studies Program at Michigan State University invites applications
for an open rank, tenure-system position in German media and cultural
studies with an emphasis on Digital Humanities beginning August 16, 2013 in
the Department of Linguistics and Germanic, Slavic, Asian and African
Languages. We are seeking dynamic applicants who envision a career of
leadership at the intersection of Digital Humanities and German Studies. The
ideal candidate will actively contribute to solving theoretical and
practical questions in this emerging field. At Michigan State University,
the successful applicant will engage with scholars in a
collaborative, interdisciplinary environment, including the Creativity
Exploratory, the Center for Language Teaching Advancement, Global Studies in
the Arts and Humanities, and MATRIX: Center for Humane Arts, Letters, &
Social Sciences Online, as well as the faculty and students in the Digital
Humanities specialization. The successful candidate will help shape an
innovative Ph.D. program in German Studies and Digital Humanities, and will
contribute to the college-wide specialization in the Digital Humanities.
Teaching responsibilities include graduate and undergraduate courses.
An active research agenda in German Studies and Digital Humanities, a Ph.D.
in German or a related field by August 16, 2013, and teaching experience are
required.
