German: DW sicherlich vs. definitiv
Posted by
CLTeacher

Monday, October 27, 2014
From DW's Learn German page:
Was man leicht verwechselt: DEFINITIV vs. SICHERLICH

Here is Christina with another German song!
This time: "Durch den Monsun" ("Through the Monsoon") by Tokio Hotel
Here are the lyrics in German with English translation:
Deutsch
Abgrund entlang.
Und wenn ich nicht mehr kann,
denk ich daran:
Irgendwann laufen wir zusamm’ Durch den Monsun,
dann wird alles gut.
Ein
halber Mond versinkt
vor
mir.
War der eben noch bei dir? Und hƤlt er wirklich,
was
Dann
wird alles gut
Durch den Monsun Dann wird alles gut |
English Translation
Through the Monsoon
The window won’t open any more. Here inside it is full of you and empty. And the last candle goes out
in
front of me.
I wait forever. Finally it’s at a point where Outside the black clouds
are
approaching.
I
have to get through the monsoon,
Behind the world, to the end of time, Until it’s not raining anymore. Against the storm,
along
the abyss,
And when I can’t go anymore,
I
think that
Sometime we’ll run together Through the monsoon,
and
all will be well.
A
half moon sinks (to insignificance)
in
front of me.
Wasn’t it just with you? And does it really keep
what
it promises me?
I know I can find you. I hear your name in the hurricane. I believe, it’s impossible
to
believe it more.
I have to get through the monsoon, Behind the world, to the end of time, Until it’s not raining anymore. Against the storm, along the abyss, And when I can’t go anymore,
I
think that
Sometime we’ll run together Because nothing more can stop us Through the monsoon.
I
battle my way
Through the powers that be behind this door. I’ll conquer them, And then they’ll lead me to you. Then all will be well. Then all will be well. All will be well All’s well.
I
have to get through the monsoon,
Behind the world, to the end of time, Until it’s not raining anymore. Against the storm, along the abyss, And when I can’t go anymore,
I
think that
Sometime we’ll run together Because nothing more can stop us Through the monsoon. Through the monsoon.
Then
all will be well.
Through the monsoon. Then all will be well. |

German: Sven van Thom - Seit du weg bist (song)

Monday, October 06, 2014
Here is Christina with another German song!
This time: "Seit du weg bist" ("Since you've been gone") by Sven van Thom.
Here are the lyrics in German with English translation:
Deutsch
Seit du weg bist
Seitdem du weg bist, bleib ich allein.
Es liegt das Herz in meiner Brust
schwer wie ein Stein.
Seitdem du weg bist,
geht’s mir nicht gut,
Wie einem seekranken Matrosen mit Skorbut.
Seitdem du weg bist, ist alles schlecht.
Wenn ich mich schneide,
dann noch nicht mal fachgerecht.
Seitdem du weg bist,
klappt gar nichts mehr.
Du gehst an mir vorbei
und schaust nach vorn,
aber ich schau nur hinterher.
Seit du weg bist,
seit du weg bist,
Ist grau noch viel,
viel grauer
und schmeckt Zucker nur noch sauer.
Seit du weg bist,
seit du weg bist,
Sehen KƤtzchen aus wie Ratten
und die Sonne selbst wirft Schatten.
Seitdem du weg bist,
bin ich ein Wrack,
Und alle Freunde, die mich sehen,
schreien „What the f***?!“
Seitdem du weg bist,
kann ich nicht schlafen
Und schwanke ziellos
wie ein Kutter ohne Hafen.
Seitdem du weg bist,
ist tƤglich nicht mein Tag
Wie bei ´nem Masochisten,
den keiner schlagen mag.
Seitdem du weg bist,
ist alles Schrott
So wie bei einem Katholiken,
der im Sterben liegt und merkt,
es gibt keinen Gott.
Seit du weg bist,
seit du weg bist,
Ist grau noch viel, viel grauer
und schmeckt Zucker nur noch sauer.
Seit du weg bist,
seit du weg bist,
Sehen KƤtzchen aus wie Ratten
und die Sonne selbst wirft Schatten.
So als hƤtte man alles
Schƶne mir gestohlen,
Selbst die Nachtigall singt
Songs von Dieter Bohlen.
Ich kann nicht weiter fallen,
denn tiefer geht’s nicht mehr,
Und ich vermisse dich so sehr.
Seit du weg bist,
seit du weg bist,
Trink ich noch exzessiver
und der Tod ist attraktiver.
Seit du weg bist,
seit du weg bist,
FlieĆt Pech durch meine Venen
und das Atmen ist ein GƤhnen.
Seit du weg bist,
seit du weg bist,
Schmeckt selbst Pfeffer nur noch schal
und mir ist alles ganz egal.
Seit du weg bist,
seit du weg bist,
Sehen KƤtzchen aus wie Ratten
und die Sonne selbst wirft Schatten.

English Translation
Since
you’ve been gone
Since
you’ve been gone, I remain alone.
My heart in my chest is
as heavy
as a stone.
Since you’ve been gone,
I’m not
doing so well,
Like a seasick sailor with scurvy.
Since you’ve been gone, everything is bad.
When I cut myself,
it’s not
even professionally.
Since you’ve been gone,
nothing works anymore.
You pass me by and look straight ahead,
but my
eyes can only follow you.
Since
you’ve been gone,
since
you’ve been gone,
Gray is much,
much
grayer
and sugar
only tastes sour.
Since you’ve been gone,
since
you’ve been gone,
Kitties look like rats
and even
the sun throws shadows.
Since
you’ve been gone,
I’m a
wreck,
And all my friends that see me
cry “What
the f***?”
Since you’ve been gone,
I can’t
sleep
And move without a destination
like a
cutter without a harbor.
Since
you’ve been gone,
every day
it’s not my day
Like for a masochist
whom
nobody wants to hit.
Since you’ve been gone,
everything
is crap
Like for a Catholic
on his
deathbed
who
realizes there is no god.
Since
you’ve been gone,
since
you’ve been gone,
Gray is much, much grayer
and sugar
only tastes sour.
Since you’ve been gone,
since
you’ve been gone,
Kitties look like rats
and even
the sun throws shadows.
It’s like
someone stole
everything
beautiful from me,
Even the nightingale sings
songs by
Dieter Bohlen.
I can’t fall any further,
because it
can’t get any deeper,
And I miss you so much.
Since
you’ve been gone,
since
you’ve been gone,
I drink even more excessively
and death
is more attractive.
Since you’ve been gone,
since
you’ve been gone,
Bad luck is flowing through my veins
and my
breathing is a yawn.
Since
you’ve been gone,
since
you’ve been gone,
Even pepper only tastes stale
and
nothing matters to me at all.
Since you’ve been gone,
since
you’ve been gone,
Kitties look like rats
and even
the sun throws shadows.
