German middle and high school students from all over the state compete in various competitions based on their level of German for ribbons and other awards, such as the overall highest ranking female student, male student and school. Students also attend interactive cultural workshops based on the theme for the year and can earnSprachgeld by speaking German throughout the day. Sprachgeld can be redeemed at the Jahrmarkt for a variety of German related items including chocolate, hats, stickers, and books to name a few. The day culminates in a dance hosted by the Alpine Express band.

The Department of Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures (MLLC) invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor in German Studies and Film beginning September 1, 2015.
We are particularly interested in individuals with a specialization in German and Central European cinema who unite inquiry into formal questions with a nuanced sense of the social context in which films are produced and consumed, and who are well-versed in the literatures and cultural traditions of Germany and Central Europe from an interdisciplinary and/or comparative perspective. Ability to teach courses in other European film traditions a plus. In addition to teaching survey courses and advanced seminars on film, literature, and culture, and contributing to an interdepartmental program in Cinema Studies, the candidate should be able to supervise and teach in a growing German language program. Typical teaching load is two courses per semester; candidates are expected to be productive scholars with active research agendas that will attract extramural research funding.

From Deutsche Welle:
Was man leicht verwechselt: VORHER vs. VORHIN
