Jobs: Pendleton Heights High School (IN) German Position


Pendleton Heights High School in Pendleton, Indiana has a full-time substitute position position for the fall semester, while my colleague battles cancer.

School starts soon:  August 3rd.

Responsibilities include levels 2-5

Department Introduction:
The Department of Languages and Literatures offers the following undergraduate programs: majors and minors in French, German, Italian, Russian, and Spanish; minors in Classics, Japanese, and Chinese; beginning levels of study in Hebrew and Arabic. Study of Greek is also available on an individual basis.
Job Summary:
  • Teaching 1-2 classes per quarter, grading assignments, holding office hours, meeting with students, occasional staff meetings
  • Teaching classes
  • Grade assigned work
  • Hold office hours and meet with students and supervisors as necessary
Salary: $3,000/course
Work Schedule: Varies
Required Qualifications:
  • MA in German or closely related field
  • Experience teaching at the college level
  • Fluency in German and English
  • Experience teaching elementary and/or intermediate levels
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD or ABD status in German or closely related field
  • 2 years of teaching at the university level

Successful candidates must have an earned Ph.D., demonstrated excellence in interdisciplinary research and teaching, and expertise in one or more of the following areas: technology-enhanced learning, learning sciences, digital humanities, language assessment, translation studies, literary and cultural studies, global studies, transnational studies. Candidates should have advanced-level proficiency in Russian, interest in teaching a full range of courses in the curriculum, and experience in culture-driven, content-based, communicatively-oriented instruction.
