The
Department of German in the Division of World Languages, Literatures
and Cultures at the University of Iowa is searching for a Visiting
Assistant Professor with a specialization in Interdisciplinary Holocaust
Studies or 20th-century
German-language literature and film and interest in interdisciplinary
teaching initiatives. Teaching assignments will include “The Third Reich
and Literature,” a general education course taught in English. This
position is for the 2013-14 academic year with the possibility of
renewal pending positive teaching evaluations and budgetary approval.
Education
requirement: Ph.D. in German is required by date of appointment.
Required qualifications: Native or near-native fluency in German and
English. Ability and experience in teaching German language at all
levels, directing first and second-year language programs, and ability
to teach “The Third Reich and Literature.” Desired
qualifications: Specialization in Interdisciplinary Holocaust Studies
or 20th- century German-language literature and film and interest in
interdisciplinary teaching initiatives.
