Kinderstube Preschool Director           

Location   There are two preschool locations:

·         Mayflower Church: I- 35E and Diamond Lake Road, Minneapolis, MN 

·         Germanic-American Institute: 301 Summit Avenue, St. Paul, MN

Position Summary

·         The primary responsibility of the preschool director is administration and oversight of staff and daily operations of the Kinderstube German Immersion Preschool

·         Start Wage: $17-$20/hour DOE                    

·         Hours:  25 flexible hours/Monday-Friday week.  There is the possibility of full employment for director/teacher combination               

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

·         Work with staff at both sites to maintain a safe and healthy, child-centered environment that is in compliance with all state licensing day care requirements.

·         Hire and provide supervision, support and regular evaluation of Kinderstube staff.

·         Serve as the main contact person with prospective and currently enrolled families. This includes phone calls, tours, and child enrollment.  

·         Ensure that children and staff records are complete and in compliance with licensing.

·         Oversee development/implementation of an enhanced pre-school curriculum that includes building German language skills.

·         Maintain the Kinderstube budget through oversight of personnel costs and other expenses.

Secondary duties

·         Model for teachers expected methodology and interactions with the children

·         Fill in as classroom teacher as needed.

·         Update and maintain Kinderstube documents, including the family and the teacher handbook.

·         Other duties related to the Kinderstube program as assigned by the GAI Executive Director.

Minimum Qualifications

·         Experience working with children ages 3-5

·         A bachelor’s degree in Education or German,  or associates degree in Early Childhood or equivalent

·         At least one year teaching and/or management experience in a school program, preferably preschool.

·         Fluency in German preferred, but will consider strong candidates without it.
