Spanish: Me gusta el fútbol - Melendi

Hi everyone! here is a fun song about soccer you can use to practice verbs like gustar and the present tense of regular and irregular verbs. The video is interesting because it shows how different people play soccer around the world. Enjoy!

no quiero perderme nada

no quiero perderme nada
del domingo y su jornada
ni mucho menos un gol.

Spanish: La semana - Amparanoia

Here is a nice way to practice the days of the week with your students. I included the lyrics for you as well. Enjoy!

La semana de Amparanoia

Voy corriendo, la poli va detrás
voy corriendo, a mí me quieren atrapar

Y voy corriendo...

¿Qué malo he hecho yo?

Voy corriendo, la poli va detrás
voy corriendo, me quieren pillar.
El alquiler yo no voy a pagar.
Que vengan a buscarme, no me encontrarán

New: Ohio educators travel to sister school to learn about teaching in China

A Cleveland high school principal and four teachers recently traveled to China to visit their sister school in Guangzhou. They said they learned that teachers work in classes of 50 to 55 students during a school day that lasts from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with two hour lunch breaks and 10 minute breaks between classes. "Understanding what's happening in another culture can only help to diversify your students and their outlook and world view," said Tracey Gobel, an English teacher who went on the eight day trip. You can read more about their exploits in the article linked below:

Ed-Tech: Education reform if we start from a blank slate?

In a recent article,Will Richardson, a parent, author, speaker and educator, writes that schools have not always existed in their current form, and the form they will take in future is unclear. In this blog post, Richardson suggests approaching the topic with a "beginner's mind" -- asking "what if" questions and considering how teaching, learning and school itself would work best if created today from scratch.

Video: Limón y Sal - Julieta Venegas

Hello, I would like to share this song I use for practicing the present tense of regular and irregular verbs. It's a catchy song that students tend to like, enjoy! I added the lyrics below.

no hace falta cambiarte nada,
yo te quiero si vienes o si vas,

solo tenerte cerca siento
que vuelvo a empezar.

News: Benefits of students contributing to class blogs?

What is the primary benefit of having students contribute to class blogs?

Blogging is fun and can be serious work at the same time. Getting your students involved in a class blog brings with it all kinds of great opportunities to keep them involved and engaging them in various styles of authentic writing. Best of all, setting up a blog is rather simple, even if you haven't had any prior experience or feel that you're not tech savvy. Here are some benefits of using a class blog:

  • encourage writing across the curriculum - blog posts can be activities and assignments themselves
  • a liberating change because they encourage short entries and alternative formats
  • engage students in authentic writing
  • provides a great opportunity to increase the visibility of the program
What are you waiting for? Start a class blog for your next class!
