The Department of Modern Languages and Cultures at Rochester Institute of Technology invites applications for an Assistant Professor of French or German Linguistics to begin on August 13, 2014. We are seeking candidates with a Ph.D. in linguistics or applied linguistics with specialization in French or German linguistics with native or near-native fluency in French, German, and English. The ideal candidate must be committed to fostering global awareness and diversity, and participating actively and collegially within the department and college.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ph.D. in linguistics or applied linguistics with specialization in French or German linguistics;
• Native or near-native fluency in French, German, and English;
• Significant language teaching experience in French and/or German;
• Demonstrated teaching excellence at the university-level in the U.S. using communicative-oriented methodologies;
• Specialization in French or German with the ability to teach undergraduate courses in both languages;
• Demonstrated capability for active scholarly production;
• Capacity to develop the curriculum in linguistics and culture courses offered in the department;
• Commitment to integrating appropriate technology into teaching and learning;
• Commitment to participating actively and collegially within the department and college;
• Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college’s continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
