Position Summary:
9-Month Instructors are actively involved in the academic programs offered by the ELA. This position requires teaching duties as assigned plus related duties. ESL Instructors are expected to be active participants in ELA programs.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Strong academic preparation: master's in TESOL or related field
2. Knowledge of methods and techniques to enhance the acquisition of grammar, reading, writing, listening, and speaking for students learning English as a second language
3. Knowledge of communicative language teaching practices
4. Knowledge of methods and techniques to prepare students learning English as a second language to be academically, socially, and linguistically successful in mainstream university courses
5. Experience adapting classroom content to better meet students' needs
6. Knowledge of and experience in developing , administering, and grading assessments
7. Strong classroom management skills, organizational and planning skills, ability to give clear, concise directions and explanations
8. Ability to effectively use technology in the classroom to enhance instruction
9. A minimum of two years ESL teaching experience, preferably in a college-level intensive course
10. High level of English proficiency
11. Proficiency in a second language preferred

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited, to:
- Plan and teach assigned ESL courses in an Intensive English Program
- Maintain office hours to advise and assist students, participate in committee activities, and other assigned duties that support the program
- Develop curriculum and materials associated with courses taught
- Review student work, provide feedback, and return assignments in a timely manner
- Participate in placement testing and other grading and assessment duties
- Participate in orientation sessions, pre- and post-term assignments, and extra-curricular activities offered to students
- Participate in staff development and in-service training meetings
- Attend all faculty meetings
- Submit syllabi for courses taught and final grades; maintain attendance and class records
- Participate in institutional effectiveness efforts within the department
- Other duties as assigned, including tutoring, student activities, additional classes, and administrative duties.
- Share duties with colleagues as directed by the Executive Director of Global Initiatives.
- Act as International Academic liaison to departments or colleges as assigned.
