Assistant Professor/German/Binghamton, New York
The Department of German and Russian Studies at Binghamton University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of German. We seek a colleague with the potential for successful teaching and mentoring (in German and English), evidence of active and ongoing scholarship, and a commitment to both the German Studies Program and the “Material and Visual Worlds” Transdisciplinary Area of Excellence (TAE). Required are near-native fluency in German and English and experience in teaching at the college level. Especially welcome are scholar-teachers whose research engages the relationship between media and literature, media theory, digital humanities, transnational cinema or gender and sexuality studies.
The position is affiliated with “Material and Visual Worlds,” one of the five Transdisciplinary Areas of Excellence that Binghamton University has identified for growth under the auspices of its SUNY 2020 plan. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of this TAE as an area of intensive research and teaching.
