In a recent blog post, educator Matthew Farber discusses how he uses digital games and board games developed by the Institute of Play's Mission Lab to engage his sixth- and seventh-grade students in class. For instance, he uses the nondigital debate game "Socratic Smackdown" for class discussions. "Games enable my students to discover different ways of solving problems, which is more like life and less like standardized tests," according to Farber.

In what ways do you incorporate games into your language classroom? Can games be effective in higher level courses or are they only useful for beginners? Do you have a favorite game that the students always enjoy? Have you used any digital language learning games?
