The German Department at Bowdoin College seeks applications for a tenure-track position in German studies, with preference for research in 20th and 21st century beginning fall 2014. Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching at all levels of German language and the cultures of the German-speaking countries. Promise of ongoing scholarly engagement and proven success in teaching are expected, as is an ongoing commitment to curricular innovation. Near-native fluency in German and English required. Teaching load: two preparations (6-9 hours) per semester. Expertise to complement existing specialties in the department. Applicants who can offer interdisciplinary perspectives or connections to other departments or programs on campus are desired. Ph.D. expected by time of appointment.
