The Department of Germanic and Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of Colorado seeks a full-time instructor or senior instructor of German. Three-year renewable appointment, starting August 2014. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of the German language curriculum, teach two courses per semester, serve as teaching assistant coordinator for first and second year German, and perform additional departmental service. The University of Colorado offers a BA, MA, concurrent BA/MA, dual MA/MBA, and PhD in German Studies, with a thriving major and minor, and undergraduate study abroad opportunities in Berlin, Regensburg, and Trier.
Qualifications: MA in German (or a closely related field) required, PhD desirable. A minimum of five years of teaching experience is also preferred but not required. Native or near-native proficiency in German, a strong background in language pedagogy and expertise in language technology, with ability to teach German language at all levels, and a record of effective teaching and commitment to professional development. Instructor or senior instructor rank will be dependent on qualifications.
